Our Managing Director, Brett Nash, was asked to present at Ecoforum 2018, held at the International Convention Centre in Sydney. His presentation about the benefits of Early Contractor Involvement, titled ‘Bettering Project Outcomes Through Collaborative Early Engagement’ centred around providing value engineering alternatives to clients who had engaged the delivery partner (Contractor) early during the design phase to provide cost-saving solutions, whilst maintaining the design integrity. Brett presented a case study from a civil remediation project outlining time savings of 15% and a direct cost saving of 22%.
Early Contractor Involvement or ECI for short, when executed successfully, can provide significant benefit to the overall outcome of a project. But there remains a reluctance to adopt this contractual mechanism in our remediation industry. Only recently, the NSW Government announced its 10-point plan to establish collaborative relationships to build new infrastructure projects, and ECI mechanisms are common and well understood in the construction industry.
